Artistic integrity has always been an ongoing topic over thousands of years as art itself has developed. Subsequently, this article has brought a new light to the meaning of an artist’s purpose in the creative world. In. particular, Mr. Song’s choice to rebuild artworks out of demolished fragments or lost memories is both beautiful and invigorating. I sincerely appreciated reading this article, because it reminded me that art can be achieved through any means of producing. Mr. Song went through unimaginable strife, after losing his childhood town to desolation and his mother’s uncontrollable grief. The MoMa’s exhibition sends out mixed signals to the audience, which is integral to passing on the artwork’s message clearly. After his proposal to turn their emaciated home into an ongoing art project, I have gained a new appreciation for Mr. Song, because his willingness to carry the Conceptualist practice through his strife is considerably admirable.

Joan Jonas video review

Jonas plays up her use of body movements and sound in her videos. She translates her thoughts thoroughly in these videos and she uses her work to communicate her thoughts and emotions. She often uses the space itself to convey these feelings, like in her video Wind. On the windiest day of the year, Jonas used the weather to create emotion in her works. She often uses multiple artists as well to make a collaborative effort on her work. Overall, I respond well to these videos, and I respect Jonas as a creator using the medium of film to convey herself.

Diary Entries 2

Dear Diary, Today marks my first solo art exhibition. My show, debuted in Philadelphia, has attracted numerous young artists to my works. Additionally, so many students from Tyler decided to come and see alumni art, which I sincerely appreciated. I had about 20 pieces, using acrylic, charcoal, and printmaking, and a lot of talented art collectors came. I am monumentally thankful that I am able to showcase my works in the city that granted me so much.

Bruce Nauman video review

In this video, Nauman was "Walking in an Exaggerated Manner", and it was filmed for ten minutes. He was walking swaying his hips in slow motion for that entire time, and there seems to be an underlying meaning to it. I never really understood videos like this, and I often get frustrated because I am not sure how to appreciate them properly. Nauman seems to be a sophisticated artist and has profoundly impacted the video community with strange videos like this.
