For this prolonged ofproject, my proposal will be relating to the most important aspect to my life: art. I want to be able to walk up to people, ask them to draw whatever they want in one of my sketchbooks, and time them for 30 seconds or a minute (whichever time works better). They can draw anything they wish; they can describe their emotions at that current moment, attempt to draw their significant other, or be completely abstract. With this project, my intent is to both learn from a large array of ethnicities, and to gain inspiration myself. In my opinion, this project could be the breakthrough I need for extended inspiration, and I believe that I will be enlightened learning from these people.

Joan Jonas video review

Jonas plays up her use of body movements and sound in her videos. She translates her thoughts thoroughly in these videos and she uses her work to communicate her thoughts and emotions. She often uses the space itself to convey these feelings, like in her video Wind. On the windiest day of the year, Jonas used the weather to create emotion in her works. She often uses multiple artists as well to make a collaborative effort on her work. Overall, I respond well to these videos, and I respect Jonas as a creator using the medium of film to convey herself.

Matthew Barney video reaction

The video I watched from Barney, Cremaster Cycle Trailer, was extremely odd with its imagery and symbolism. There were different shots of unrelated things, and the entire video seemed surreal at times. Because of its oddness, this video reminds me of the video examples we were shown in class. I can possibly take inspiration from this video, if I wanted to make something extremely abstract. It was difficult to find the true meaning of this video, but nevertheless, I still appreciate it.
